6 Tips for Healthy and Realistic Resolutions

Tom Bastion 4 min read

As the New Year approaches, many people will be making resolutions to improve their health and wellness. These resolutions can range from eating healthier foods or getting more exercise to quitting smoking or drinking alcohol. Here are six tips for healthy and realistic resolutions that you might consider adding to your list of goals in 2018.

The key to success for keeping a resolution is is a list of 6 tips that can help you keep your resolutions.

6-Tips-for-Healthy-and-Realistic-Resolutions

Be specific and realistic in your expectations.

We’re dedicated to making New Year’s resolutions now that the Christmas parties and excesses are behind. Don’t beat yourself up if you haven’t begun working on your objectives; instead, keep reading for suggestions on how to get started. According to Statista, 41% of Americans set New Year’s goals each January, but just 8% of us follow through. What is the reason behind this? One of the most common reasons individuals fail to fulfill their New Year’s goals is because they are too vague. When you establish objectives that are unclear, it is easy to abandon them or walk away. Resolving to “reduce weight,” for example, is a simple way to set yourself up for failure since the goal lacks methods to track progress and is unlikely to keep you engaged throughout the year. Rather, set a precise objective, such as losing 10 pounds by a certain date. A goal/resolution timetable is useful for ensuring that you are on track to achieve your objective.

Begin with a little project.

Make resolutions you believe you will be able to stick to. If you want to exercise more, instead of arranging daily blocks, consider scheduling three days of exercise. You don’t have to limit your exercise to going to the gym. Consider going for walks during your work breaks, joining an organized sport, or enrolling in a class. If you want to eat healthier, instead of cutting out your favorite meals, concentrate on adding better choices to your diet. Healthier alternatives, such as almonds or a piece of fruit, can help you cut down on junk food consumption while also making it less painful.

One habit at a time may be changed.

Change is a method. Those bad behaviors you’re attempting to break probably took years to acquire, so forming new behavioral patterns will take time. While you may have a long list of goals, instead of spreading yourself too thin, choose one to concentrate on. It’s important to remember that once you’ve decided to alter a habit, it’s not a sprint to the finish line. You’ll be working on this habit for the rest of your life, so remain calm, breathe deeply, and concentrate on one conduct at a time. This will make keeping a resolution a lot easier.

Seek assistance.

A strong support system may help you remain motivated, whether it’s friends, family, or coworkers. Join a virtual or non-virtual group that has the same objective as you. Groups with similar objectives may help you remain on track, modify your goals, and deal with emotional problems. It makes the trip simpler and less scary to have someone to share your difficulties and triumphs with.

Begin keeping a health journal

Keeping a dedicated diary to track your progress may also help you remain on track and manage or modify your objectives. Keep note of your bedtimes, energy levels during the day, and the amount of water you consume. You’ll be able to estimate how much sleep you’ll need and keep track of your tiredness this way. It’s a good idea to keep track of how many hours you slept the night before, what you ate, and any activities you did, since this will reveal trends that are lowering your energy levels.

You Should Reward Yourself

Celebrate your achievement by doing something you love that isn’t in contradiction with your resolve. If your resolve is to improve your daily vegetable consumption, for example, rewarding yourself to an entire box of chocolates is incompatible with your goal of eating better. Instead, treat yourself to some workout gear or a movie date with a buddy.

To stay motivated, constantly focusing on the advantages of your goal. Remember that there will be some difficult moments ahead, but a new start can be immensely inspirational and encouraging.
