When it comes to treating allergies, both Benadryl and Xyzal are common options that many folks turn to. But what about taking them together? Here’s why: both medications work by blocking the action of histamine, a substance in the body that triggers allergic responses. But they do have different effects on the body which may affect how they interact when taken together. For instance, Benadryl is known for its sedating effects – it makes you sleepy. On the other hand, Xyzal is marketed as a non-sedating antihistamine but can still cause drowsiness in some individuals.

  • Xyzal, however, lasts up to 24 hours.

Given this information, alternating between the two over a 24-hour period might make more sense than taking them at the same time.

In kids and adults alike, Benadryl can also be used to counteract reactions from insect bites or stings. Itching and swelling? A little bit of this magic potion can help with that too!
