Feeling Good in Your Own Skin

Do you love the skin you’re in? If the answer is no, then you aren’t alone. In the UK, one in five adults feel some degree of shame towards their body – skin, hair, weight, etc. It’s almost as if we’re hardwired to feel that way.

And naturally so. We can attribute it to social media, peer pressure, or a general lack of self-confidence.

Still, feeling good in your own skin gives you the confidence, neigh, and freedom to enjoy life without worrying what people think – the holy grail that seems impossible to most of us.

Read on for some tips on feeling good in the skin you’re in.

Building Natural Self-Confidence

The foundation of self-confidence is what you say to yourself. One quote says you wouldn’t speak to your daughter how you speak to yourself, so why speak to yourself so negatively?

Positive affirmations are gentle yet powerful reminders of our worth. They steer our focus away from the flaws and towards the strengths.

It’s about cultivating an internal space where self-love is the language spoken, and every reflection in the mirror is met with kindness. Not that simple, though, is it.

Start by telling yourself every morning, I look good today. Today is a good day. That’s it!

Who Says You Can’t Change What You Can Change?

Self-acceptance is a virtue, but sometimes, it helps to give a little nudge from the help of a friend. That friend could be the hairdresser and a new haircut (ladies, a haircut or a change of colour can sometimes change your life), exploring the benefits of Aqualyx for fat loss, or simple lifestyle changes.

Did you know that a lot of the problems we have with tired, dry skin are because we’re drinking two coffees in the morning and a glass of water each day? Maybe a cheeky Red Bull for some afternoon energy. Yet, our bodies are 60% water – you’ll look tired and dull without drinking roughly 2.7 litres of water a day.

However, transformation isn’t solely the domain of clinics and treatments. Small lifestyle changes, a rejuvenating haircut, or even a wardrobe refresh can have profound impacts on how we perceive ourselves.

It’s about harnessing the power of change, big or small, to reflect the evolving narrative of our lives. Change, after all, is the only constant, and embracing it can be a liberating experience, a testament to our agency in crafting our own stories.

Finding The Online Culture of Positivity

The online world doesn’t have a good reputation – but it’s not social media’s fault, it’s the people. The toxic community of social media is overwhelming for some. But do you look for the positivity pages? There are tons of groups where women (and men) support each other.

While it can be a breeding ground for unrealistic standards and negative comparisons, it also holds the potential to be a haven of positivity and support, believe it or not. Search for positivity groups on Instagram, and they come up.

Loving the skin you’re in isn’t simple – why do you think one in five adults have a problem with it? It’s a journey of kindness (to yourself), resilience, and an unwavering belief in our own worth. So, how will you feel good in the skin you’re in?
