How Healthcare Providers Are Maximizing New Tech

Healthcare is a sector that constantly benefits from new tools, with healthcare GPOs helping providers access these innovations more efficiently and cost-effectively. The coming years will be an exciting time for practitioners as sophisticated tools become available to save lives and improve efficiency across different specializations. Many of these new tools are already being deployed as hospitals and clinics are eager to upgrade their facilities and offer new diagnostic and treatment solutions.

However, new technology currently remains limited to a few providers who have the resources and knowledge to adapt. Still, it’s important to stay up-to-date to remain competitive and elevate care quality across the board. Here’s a brief list of the most essential tech right now that healthcare providers couldn’t afford to miss out on.

1. The Use of Wearable Technology

Going beyond their ability to track workout plans, most smartwatches and smartbands come equipped with sensitive sensors that can accurately detect oxygen levels in the blood, measure temperature, and even determine whether a wearer is experiencing elevated stress levels. For practitioners, the use of smartwatches allows for easier access to ready care as they monitor vital signs in real-time and aid in diagnosing potentially fatal conditions.

2. The Increasing Availability of Telemedicine

Apart from the increasing accessibility of wearable technology, remote healthcare is becoming even more prevalent with the introduction of virtual medicine. While the world has already recovered from a global health crisis in the first years of the 2020s, teleconferencing has become almost ubiquitous, with medical institutions now using telemedicine platforms and virtual nursing solutions from providers like Banyan to deliver basic services.

Right now, remote healthcare uses teleconferencing to conduct initial consultations and, in the case of the elderly and those with mobility issues, a more  accessible means of undergoing regular checkups

3. The Use of Automation for Admin Work

Healthcare providers from small psychiatric clinics to entire institutions often struggle with the complexities of admin work. Managing day-to-day operations does not only involve ensuring quality patient care. Much of it involves keeping the bottom line intact and ensuring compliance, which are often the most vulnerable to admin inefficiencies.

Solving these persistent problems requires the use of AI-powered software that could automate, if not ease, heavy workloads. Through automation, hospitals and individual practitioners could eliminate problems often caused by human error and simplify workflows, allowing admin staff to focus on more critical activities.

4. The Development of Advanced 3D Printing

There are now 3D printing platforms capable of crafting custom parts that can be assembled to form limbs and organs. While this concept is still under development, recent attempts to replicate human tissue through bioinks show a great deal of promise for the future of prosthetics and surgery. A future in which 3D printed implants and even medical equipment aren’t far off, as more healthcare providers are testing the limits of such new technology.

Endnote

These tech trends are making their rounds in the healthcare industry. No one knows what new devices will emerge in the next few years. What matters most is that technology is making life better and easier by the minute.
